Welcome to Mastercraft Fabrics.
Our team has over 120 years of combined experience in the manufacturing and design of decorative fabrics. Our owner Elkin McCallum, started his textile career at Joan Fabrics loading trucks, and he built the business into the largest privately owned textile company in the United States.
The U.S. textile manufacturing industry has gone through difficult times in recent years, dealing with an influx of imports from Asia and other countries.
Once the world's leader, tough decisions were forced on U.S. textile companies, and the result is that many domestic factories have closed and some have moved 100 percent of their operations outside the U.S. We are proud to have a vibrant, continuing presence in the U.S.
Here's how we did it. In 2007 we sold some of the divisions of Joan Fabrics, and closed the remaining domestic mills. Then we bought the intellectual property of Mastercraft Fabrics, the largest manufacturer of Jacquard Fabrics in the world. Soon after, we acquired a jacquard textile manufacturing plant in Mexico.
Our business now includes Texel Fabrics in Mexico (our fabric manufacturing plant), Madison Avenue Design and Marketing (our design studio) in Taunton, Massachusetts, Joan Fabrics (our business-to-manufacturer sales organization in the United States) and Mastercraft Fabrics in Lowell, Massachusetts. Mastercraft.com offers fully manufactured fabrics, pillows, and accessories direct to retailers and consumers.
Our mission has never changed: we want to design and manufacture the highest quality fabrics in our factories in North America. We are proud to offer products made in the U.S.A.
Our management team has been together for more than 20 years. What we bring to you is innovative ideas for your home using our design expertise, and technical skills.
Our Essential fabrics are designed for furniture which requires a higher standard of durability than products that are normally used just for pillows. Our eco-friendly Vibrant outdoor fabrics feature a breakthrough fiber technology that uses no topical treatment. These fabrics are light weight, fast to dry, and won't fade for at least five years. In addition, they are bleach cleanable and prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
This is just the beginning...we are looking forward to providing great fabric designs and accessories to you at affordable prices.
We want to thank the Whistler House Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts for allowing us to photograph our pillows in the Museum.
